Healthy Leadership in an Unprecedented Time: Focusing on Modes of Care, Well-being, and Resilience

Resilience

“Resilience: the capability of a strained body to recover its size and shape after deformation caused especially by compressive stress; an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change.” Merriam Webster’s Dictionary

Rarely has the duty of care and the need for a focus on mental health and well-being been more pressing than it is today – for students, for educators, for educational leaders. Cultivating resilience and well-being is the responsibility of both the individual and the community’s leadership. This session invites participants to deepen their understanding of mental health, well-being, compassion fatigue and the Modes of Care in their personal and work lives, and to seek clarity about their personal experience of well-being and resilience.

The session on ZOOM will begin to explore the following:

• The nature of resilience and boundaries in our personal and working lives.

• Understanding our lived experience of well-being and resilience.

• The three Modes of Care in which all caring professions engage – Receiving Care, Developing Self-Care and Extending Care.

• Enhancing the ability to receive care, develop self-care and offer care to others.

• Enhancing the ability to listen deeply and respectfully, and be more fully present to self and others.
